As part of our inquiry on health prevention, the Health and Social Care Select Committee of which I’m a member has launched a strand of work on addiction treatment covering alcohol, drugs, smoking and gambling.  

Our first evidence session was held today where I challenged representatives of the alcohol industry on the conflict between encouraging healthy drinking and maximising their profits.
